Do You Want to See God? | 3 Secrets from Fr. Socrate's Gospel Homily

LISTEN THE HOMILY!!

Today is the fifth Sunday of Lent, Third Scrutiny of the Elect.

The readings are as follows:

First: Jeremiah 31: 31-34

Psalm: Psalms 51: 3-4, 12-13, 14-15

Second: Hebrews 5: 7-9

VBG: John 12: 26

Gospel: John 12: 20-33

In the first part of the gospel of St. John, the Greeks approaches the apostle Philip with the request; "Sir, we would like to see Jesus.”

This was not only the request of the Greeks, but it has also been our request for a long time.

We go to church, we pray, we make the sign of cross, we fast, we help the needs and we offer very nice offerings because we want to see Jesus.

This request will be answered on Good Friday, when the veil of the temple is torn from top to bottom.

There is veil in the temple and this veil will completely be torn on Good Friday.

Lets, ask ourselves is the veil physical?

certainly, it is a big NO.

The veil we are talking of, signifies spiritual obstacles that prevents us from see the Lord Jesus, prevents us from seeing who God is.

It is this veil that was torn from top to bottom and thereby completely removed, and this is what actually relates to the gospel of today.

It is what our request relies on: "Sir, we would like to see Jesus."

So, what shall we see on Good Friday when Jesus is crucified on the cross?

We will actually see God, we will see Jesus and we will also see The Holy Spirit.

Now from here, you will ask; how do I see that the father is there? the Holy Spirit is there?

The answer is through the 3 secrets from the language of God. It how God communicates to us, if we cannot understand the language of God, we cannot completely understand God in our lives.

3 SECRETS OF GOD'S LANGUAGE

The first God's language is Presence

The bible tells us God is present in everything, he is present not only in the church but everywhere in the universe.

So, you will be terribly wrong to believe that God dwells only in the church or the temple, because the whole unverse is the temple of God.

God-the father was present at Calvary, He was present when Jesus said, "My God, My God, why have you forsaken me", He was also present when Jesus said, "Father into your hands I entrust my spirit."

Definitely, as we have seen that the first language of God is presence and when He wants to tell you I love you, He just says I am here.

When the Lord wanted to tell us that He loves us, He revealed his name and said my name is Emmanuel that is God with us.

When Lord wanted to assures us about his love, He said I will send you the Holy Spirit and I will be with you forever.

So, my dear friend do not worry about anything, do not feel that God has abandoned you no matter what you're passing through, no matter how much difficults follows you; Lord Jesus is always there and He won't leave you in anyway. Just keep praying and believing in Him, everything will be okay.

The second language of God is obedience

Obedience is not just the duty of the inferior to the superior, it is not just about the subservient, it is not about been under. In fact, obedience makes us totally free, because the christian understanding of obedience is listerning.

Somebody who listens is actually obedient, that's why it is not only the duty of the children to obey their parentss, but also the parents should obey their children in the sense of listening.

If this world would be composed of men and women who listens, this world is going to be a better place.

But, why do we have wars, conflicts and broken relationships? Why do we live in sin? It is really beacause we have failed to listen and when we fail to listen, we fail to love because true love listens.

When the loving people are together even without words they understand one another, but when love is diminished they no longer understand but whisper and shout to one another.

If you want to see Jesus, be obedient understand that Jesus is also obedient to you, therefore He loves you by listening. In any circumstance you are passing through he knows and understands and as you don't abandon him, He will soon carry all your problems as how He promised in the gospel of Mathew 11:28: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest."

The third language of God is Benevolence

Benevolence means giving without thinking of appreciation, it is being good even if the recepient has hatred. Benevolence is giving even when you are broken, you are pierced.

This is revealed in Good Friday, when Jesus was pierced along His ribs, water and blood Flowed.

Even when we killed Jesus instead of taking revenge, the Lord sends us the Holy Spirit and continues to give Himself everyday in our lives.

My dear friend, we can only see God by benevolence, by being good hearted, by stopping to think about evils against others and always say I love you and I will always wish you good no matter what you have done, no matter what you will do, I will choose to be good.

Now, back to the question of the Greek; "Sir, we would like to see Jesus.” If you want to see Jesus, do not look at the picture, an image, a painting or a scripture.

If you are looking for Jesus be Jesus yourself by being present to your loved ones, by being obedient because love is obedience and by constant benevolence.

Never hate anyone, choose to do wrong, take revenge, choose resistance, choose anger or hatred but always wish others and yourself the best.

These are the secrets to see God as Jesus says where there is presence, benevolence and obedience, there is love and I am there.

By adhering to these 3 secrets you will definitely see and experience God in your life.

It might have been too tough to read, I have simplified for you, at the top there is a player from it, you can listen to the homily and below is the attachment of a video where you may love to watch.
