Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, the choir leadership explains that “Uko Wapi Mungu” (Where Are You, God?) is rooted in the scriptures of Psalm 13:1—“How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever? How long will you hide your face from me?” The song was birthed during a season of reflection on the various challenges humans face, where God's silence is sometimes misinterpreted as His absence. “We wanted to sing for those who have reached the end of their own strength,” the choir shared. “The goal is to remind them that even in the silence, God is still at work.”
