A Call to Walk Together as One Family

Record-breaking, multi-platinum Catholic gospel composer and writer Benard Mukasa has unveiled his latest single, Gusaneni Majeraha. The release is not just another addition to his ever-growing collection of songs, but a deeply reflective piece that ushers listeners into a moment of compassion, empathy, and shared humanity. It marks the beginning of what promises to be yet another powerful and unpredictable journey in Mukasa’s artistic exploration.

“With Gusaneni Majeraha, I want the music to speak for itself. My hope is that it penetrates a moment of reflection, urging the listener to decide what it truly means to help one another. The interpretation may align with my own, or it might rise from the heart of the audience. Either way, I am eager to see what people take away from it, and how it touches their lives. For the God of rock and roll, the God of all creation, is always faithful in our lives.” Mukasa shared.

Gusaneni Majeraha is a call to walk together as one family. It reminds us that life’s journey is long, and along the way, people stumble and fall. No one is exempt from wounds—some are wounds of the body, others are wounds of the heart. All, however, require healing. Mukasa poetically emphasizes that whoever ignores a wounded companion along the path is essentially robbing themselves of the grace that will be needed when they too fall and require someone else’s hand.

The message is direct yet profound: do not turn your back on others in their moment of pain. Instead, carry one another, console one another, and bind each other’s wounds. As Mukasa concludes, “Kumbukaneni njiani msipitane shidani, gusaneni majeraha, umbianeni faraja”—remember the path, do not let challenges separate you, heal each other’s wounds, and speak words of comfort.

In a world often marked by division, self-centeredness, and indifference to suffering, Gusaneni Majeraha becomes a spiritual anthem calling us back to unity and care. It is a reminder that we are bound together in one human story, and that healing begins with small acts of compassion.

The song’s music video, directed by Tanganyika Productions, adds a visual layer to its message. Through storytelling and carefully crafted imagery, the video captures both the brokenness and the hope that runs through the song. The audio was produced by Rajo Productions, ensuring that the depth of the lyrics was complemented by a sound that resonates with both traditional choral richness and modern gospel strength.

Gusaneni Majeraha is part of the third album by Quadri V, a family-based choir founded and nurtured by Benard Mukasa. The album continues Mukasa’s long tradition of blending theology, music, and lived experience into songs that speak to the heart and spirit of believers.

Born on January 31, 1977, Bernard Mwombeki Mukasa sings the fourth voice (bass) with the St. Kizito Choir at the Blessed Anuarite Parish in Makuburi, Dar es Salaam. His journey in ministry began humbly at St. Cecilia Choir in Biharamulo, and from there, his gift as a composer flourished into something extraordinary.

By January 2020, Mukasa had already written nearly 2,000 songs. Out of these, around 1,200 have been recorded in albums across Tanzania and beyond. While most are sung in Swahili, he has also ventured into other languages, including Chichewa and Chiyao in Malawi, Bemba in Zambia, Lingala in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Kirundi in Burundi. This linguistic diversity not only highlights his versatility but also shows his commitment to ensuring that gospel music transcends cultural and linguistic boundaries.

Mukasa’s contribution to gospel music is monumental. He has participated in and recorded over 100 albums—both audio and video. His creative energy has inspired choirs, soloists, and producers across East and Central Africa. The albums he has worked on are many, but among the most notable include:Mimina Neema – Kizito Makuburi

  • Safari ya Mbinguni – Benedicto, Oruba (Migori, Kenya)
  • Nyumba ya Roho – Kizito Makuburi
  • Siri ya Moyo Wangu – Kizito Makuburi
  • Mlipuko wa Sifa – Yuda Thadei Mbeya
  • Silaha ya Mapambano – Kizito Makuburi
  • Mungu Yule – Kizito Makuburi
  • Nani Angesimama – Triple V
  • Upendo na Ukarimu – Triple V
  • Mungu – Ledokoska, Dodoma

Each of these albums carries Mukasa’s signature touch—a blend of lyrical depth, strong choral arrangements, and an unshakable foundation in faith.

What makes Gusaneni Majeraha distinct is not just its poetic message, but its ability to speak to universal human experiences. Everyone has faced wounds—whether visible or hidden—and everyone has needed someone to walk beside them. Mukasa captures this truth with sincerity and theological richness, making the song both a personal reflection and a communal prayer.

The artistry of the composition also deserves attention. The song carries the weight of gospel tradition while daring to push into new emotional territories. Its melody is simple enough for congregations to sing, yet layered enough for choirs to expand upon. This duality ensures its place both in church liturgy and in personal devotion.
